President Dale Miller called the meeting to order at 3:30 P.M.

New member Gene Tate was introduced and welcomed.

Minutes of the October 1, 2012 General Meeting were previously emailed to all club members.  Dale Miller asked for corrections or additions to the minutes as emailed.  Jerry Pointer’s last name was spelled wrong.  Betty Wolfe moved to accept the minutes as corrected.  Dick Branson seconded the motion and it passed.

Treasure Cindy Geiser gave a report on income and expenses for the past month.  We have 237 paid members and more dues have been paid.

Practice time for the 4.0 men will start at 2:30 at old courts.  Dale will present the court scheduling to the Recreational Facilities Committee Meeting on December 3, 2012 for approval.

Terry Garrett reported that the new sign up “save my court” is working smoothly.  There are now 168 members using the new procedure.  Dale thanked Terry for creating the new system.  If non-members would like to sign up for a court, it was suggested that they use their smart phone or the computer in the library across the parking lot from the courts.

Dale gave a team roster update.  Every league member should be listed on a roster now.  The list is posted on the bulletin board at the Springwood courts.

Dale gave an update on recreational tennis.  The women will be playing on Monday 8:30 – 10:00 and on Thursday 11:30 – 1:00.  The men will play on Tuesday 10:00 – 11:30 and 11:30 – 1:00 on Friday at the San Tan Courts.  New balls will be available to each group once a week.

Belinda Stevens made a motion to change number 5 (Returning Players) in the SSV Tennis Club Challenge Policy to read: Players may sit out one year for any reason and maintain their League level of play.  Players who have not played in a league match for more than one tennis league year will have their playing level determined by participating in a placement match conducted by the Challenge Committee.  Joe Fusaro seconded the motion and it passed.

Discussion was held on number three (Ground Rules for Challenge Matches) in the SSV Tennis Club Challenge Policy.  Bruce Evans amended the old rule and made a motion to read: Challenger will serve first in each set and have choice of side.  Players will rotate sides as in a regular league match.  (All players do not serve on the same side.)  Bill Smaha seconded the motion and it passed.

Di Schultz sent an email to all club members proposing the 2012 charitable donation be divided between The Genesis Project and La Mesita Family Shelter with each receiving $400.00.  The money to La Mesita will be designated to be used as Christmas gifts for the children in that shelter.  The Genesis Project donation is to be used at their discretion.  A motion made by Max Tiede to donate to The Genesis Project and La Mesita Family Shelter with each receiving $400.00.  Linda Miller seconded the motion and it passed.

Many clothing items and a tennis bag have been in the lost and found in the ball room at the Springwood courts.  If you are missing an item you will have to claim it before Monday.  Carol Korver will be taking the items home to wash and then will donate to The Genesis Project.

Dee Brosowske gave a report on the EVSTL meeting that she and Dale Miller attended.  Each Club shall submit to the Web Site Manager within two weeks after the end of the season the following statistics of all players in rating categories 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 who have played in the first position at least once.  Percentage of games won; Matches played; Matches played after January 1st; Percentage of matches won; Moved-up comment (if player was moved up)

Tennis balls that spent the summer in the ball room are no longer usable.  New balls will be purchased and new balls that are used for league play will then go into the ball machine and the ball baskets.

Men’s bathroom is not finished at the San Tan courts.  The AED is in the men’s restroom.  There is not a refrigerator in the snack shack.  Power to the tennis courts is in the works, so that you can use the ball machine.  It is suggested that you ride your bike or come in your golf cart because of the limited parking space.

Ron Peterson reported that two placement matches have taken place.  Both are now playing league.
