When signing up for a court for doubles play, list at least 3 names. (Use first name and last initial.) Each must play on the date reserved before he/she can reserve a court for a future day. (However, participation in a league match, team practice, blocked-out round robin, social tennis, or Saturday All-Play has no bearing on the sign-up process.) If 2 people want a court to play singles or just hit balls to each other, list both names and add the word “singles” or “practice”. If you want to use the ball machine, list your name and the term “ball machine.” If you want to practice your serve, list your name and the word “practice.” In all cases, if you sign up for a court and find that you will be unable to use it, go to the sign-up sheet as soon as possible and erase the names listed. If nobody shows up on a court that has been reserved, after ten minutes the court will be available by “squatter’s” rights.
The Tennis Club will host coffee and donuts at the February 28, 2012 General Home Owners Association.
Discussion on proposed change to bylaw (6.2A2). The Nominating Committee shall propose a multiple slate consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Member at Large for election as Members of the Executive Committee. “A slate means a nominee for each office. If you have three offices to elect—president, secretary, treasurer—a simple slate is one nominee for each office”. “A multiple slate is more than one nominee for each office. From a parliamentary law point of view, it is best for the nominating committee to choose only one nominee for each office. Electing officers in organizations is different than national elections where citizens always have two candidates from which to choose. In organizations, it is best not to make members compete against each other. Organizations need to promote cooperation.”
All Play has been very successful on Saturday mornings. All Play will continue on Saturday’s January 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2012.
